M502 BEADED PEYOTE BAG
Mary is a fiber artist with
her focus on basketry. She has had a life-long involvement in the field
of art and its creative processes. She teaches, lectures and exhibits full
time in local, statewide and national Basketry and Fiber conventions. She
also sells and exhibits at fiber related shows and juried art fairs. She
is currently continuing her education in art. She lives on a secluded farmstead
with her husband and two children.

M502 BEADED PEYOTE BAG Saturday Maxi Sessions, 9:00 – 11:30 AM and 2:00 – 4:30 PM Students will learn both single and double (2-drop) peyote stitch for both tubular and flat pieces. Each student will start a pouch or flat weaving, using these peyote methods. Mary will give instruction and options on how to do more advanced techniques, using random peyote and bead sizes, to create both surface design and creative alternatives. Delica beads will be used primarily along with other beads for variation. A full range of bead colors and embellishments will be available for purchase. Thread, needles and all the necessaries for the class will be supplied. Students may bring some of their own beads if they wish. This class will allow each student to begin a project that will be uniquely their own. Due to time allotted, these projects will not be completed in the 5-hour session. Supplies: Scissors.
M603 COIN/DONUT BEADED POUCH Sunday Maxi Sessions, 9:00 – 11:30 AM and 2:00 – 4:30 PM Using the double (2-drop Peyote) stitch, an antique coin or stone donut and fine Delica seed beads, students will bead this unique necklace. Each student will have the choice of two styles and many options of color combinations. Styles are a flat, tubular necklace or a triangular shaped pouch. Students may also choose between the coin and the donut and add embellishment with beads to finish the piece. A fun and unique craft. Everything you need is included in the material fee. Supplies: Scissors; a small portable,
gooseneck lamp would be helpful but is optional.
